Detoxify and feel like a new person: Learn about the benefits, and when, why and how to detoxify

Pesticides, cosmetics, smog and cigarette smoke. These are just few of the toxins our bodies are exposed to everyday. If you don’t spend hundreds of extra dollars on organic food every month, are anal about your organic, herbal and natural make- up (if you interested you should definitely check out the beauty section of this website), and completely isolate yourself from the rest of the world without ever stepping out of your home- then even you have unwanted toxins in your body.

While there are certainly the obvious signs of external toxins, fewer of us realize that alcohol, high stress and poor eating habits will also add to the long line of toxins introduced to our body.

How do you know if you could need some detoxification? Well, there are certainly telltale signs that are hard to miss, like feeling sluggish and out of sync but if you are just one of the average consumers, not spending all too much time a day analyzing your body; it might just happen that these sign will slip through. Other signs that detoxification is needed are less well known such as chronic headaches, PMS and moodiness, hormone replacement therapy and liver diseases such as hepatitis.

For me, the point that I notice that a detoxification was more than needed is after I have been through one about once a year (which is the recommended time period to wait between detoxifications) and notice all the positive benefits that come with it.

Clearer, baby smooth, even toned skin, flat stomach and revitalization are just some of the great side-effects I usually long for. But much more serious great advantages such as alleviation of allergy symptoms help with digestive problems, stiff and aching joints and headaches, acne, and depression and insomnia are usually experienced by easing the toll that toxins take on the cardiovascular, nervous, immune, respiratory, reproductive, gastrointestinal, urinary, skin, musculoskeletal and endocrine systems.

Now, how can you use this wonder weapon get rid of the toxins and start being addicted to the beautiful side effects? Well, there are several ways; here are some of them to get you started…

1. The easiest and least invasive way of detoxifying is to put off alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, refined sugars and fats of for a while. Adding chemicals included in every day materials such as household cleaners, shampoos and soaps to the list of banned items should be the next step for your detoxification. To make this program as beneficial as possible stress should be avoided and yoga and meditation are usually great ways to find your inner balance.

2. Green tea is another way of cleansing your body. Other herbs such as dandelion root, burdock and milk thistle will help cleanse and protect your liver.

3. Drink at least 2 quarts of water a day which will help “flush out” toxins collected in your system

4. Hydrotherapy can be very helpful. Take a very hot shower for five minutes, allowing the water to run on your back. Follow with cold water for 30 seconds. Do this three times, and then get into bed for 30 minutes. – It seems cruel but it works wonders!

5. Enjoy a good sweat! Saunas are great to eliminate toxins through perspiration.

6. Dry-brushing or detoxifying patches and foot baths have also been proven very helpful to remove toxins through your pores. Special brushes are available at natural products stores.

7. Supplements such as the homeopathic “derivatio” (which can be found in our health section) help eliminate toxins by supporting the cleansing functions of all the body systems

I hope I was of some help to guide you to find your perfect way to detoxify…. Enjoy and beautify and don’t forget to tell me what wonderful detox-effects you are currently proudly displaying.

Great article! One think I would like to add, though, is that for a thorough detox, the digestive system should be in a resting mode. This doesn’t mean that you have to starve the body, though. I have been using a detox product on myself and my clients for 5 years that cleanses on a cellular level, addresses the colon and the liver. It cleanses toxins while flooding the body with high quality nutrients. Most people lose about 10 pounds during the 9 day program, which includes 2 - 2 day cleanses and 5 days of flooding the body with nutrients - and I personally lost all cellulite while doing a 9 day program.

Many medical professionals from naturopaths to gastroenterologists are recommending this effective and safe program. I would be happy to email more information to those interested.

Yes, there are certainly many benefits to going through detoxification. There are several detox diet program available in the market. One should always do their research to find a suitable one. If in doubt about which detox diets or as to the benefits of detox, you can always visit my blog.

This is an excellent article. We need to detoxify our body before attempting any weight loss programmes, diet programes or supplements. If your body is not tuned, you will not get optimum results. Pranayama is an excellent way to harmonise your mind and body.
